The 2000 Club – how and why it began.
Sometime in the mid 1980′s Heathfield & Waldron Rotary club created the 100 Club. The aim – to get 100 people to join, and by paying £1.00 per month provide a source of revenue to help out local charities and good causes within the area of Heathfield, East Sussex.
The project was quite successful and after a few years the numbers grew, to over 100 members. As the membership had obviously exceeded the name of the club it was changed to the 200 Club, and steadily growing. By the end of 1999 the 200 Club had over 200 hundred members, what then? Did we call ourselves the 300 Club or what? As the year 2000 was on the horizon we thought that the Club would be better served by changing the name to ‘The 2000 Club’ with the aim of getting 2000 members – an ambitious project which we knew would take a little while.
As it was the millennium year we pressed forward on the May day celebrations and launched the newly named club, immediately swelling our membership to over 300+ Not bad for a small Sussex town in the heart of the countryside of southern England.
Where to now?
This is where you come in. Our aim is to broaden our horizons by using the internet and this web-site. By providing this site we give you the chance to join and win each month a sum of money, at present £50.00 per month for two lucky members, with a bigger draw every 6 months paying out several prizes ranging from £50.00 to £250.00 or even more!.
All for just £12.00 per year and the more money we get in, the more we can help those in need and the better the chance of you winning bigger prizes, as approximately 45% of the money coming in goes towards prizes.
What good does this 2000 Club do?
In addition to our International and National help programs we have funded a great many local charities – endeavours ranging from play-groups, disabled children, school sports, Scouts, Guides, Hospices, Young people’s work programs, Macmillan Nurses, Senior citizens outings and parties – to name but a few.
The Rotary club is an international movement that has a well-earned reputation for its benevolent work since its inception in 1905.
We manage the 2000 lottery club with only minimal (and unavoidable) administration expenses.
