Our Rules

The Rotary Club of Heathfield & Waldron Benevolent Trust

(Working Name: The Heathfield Rotary Trust)

2000 Club Rules and Information (revised 1st AUGUST 2015)

Registration and Licensing.  Heathfield and Waldron Rotary Trust’s 2000 Club is registered with and licensed by Wealden District Council (reference number LN/000012723) under the provisions of the Gambling Act of 2005. A Rotary Club charity trustee (Rotarian George Claydon) is the Licensee for the lottery and former Club President and charity trustee (Rotarian Lawrence Muffett) is the lottery Promoter.

The 2000 Club is a monthly subscription, small society lottery. The prizes distributed in any year from the PRIZE FUND (starting in July) shall equate to approximately 45% of the net membership subscriptions received during the year – the exact proportion being decided by the Rotary charity trustees in consultation with the Promoter.

Banking facilities will be maintained with NatWest Bank, Heathfield.

Currently, except in December and June, (which is the final accounting month of the Lottery Club’s year), there will be two monthly prizes of £50 each.

In December, there will be a distribution of prizes based on an estimated value of the full year’s income and in June a final distribution of prizes to the value of the balance of the whole year’s actual PRIZE FUND.

After deduction of minimal administration costs and the Prize Fund has been disbursed, all monies raised will be transferred to the Rotary Club of Heathfield & Waldron Benevolent Trust, Registered Charity No: 1077361.

Subject to the income being sufficient to produce the necessary PRIZE FUND, this FUND will be distributed to produce major prizes as follows:-

DecemberJune
1st prize £250 1st prize £250.00 (or higher)
2nd prize £150 2nd prize £150
3rd prize £50 3rd prize £50

Other prizes to a balance of 45% of funds

If membership – and income – increases substantially the number and value of the prizes will be increased, conversely, if income falls the value of the prizes may have to be reduced proportionately.

Prize draws will be made towards the end of each calendar month, usually at a local Rotary meeting or event. Details may be obtained from the Promoter upon request.

Each lottery draw is open to all 2000 Club members and there is no limit to the amount of ‘chances’ which may be purchased by any one member.

If a member’s number is drawn on more than one occasion at the same monthly draw the holder is entitled to EVERY prize so drawn.

December and June draws shall be held on the basis that the HIGHEST prize is allocated to the FIRST number drawn, second highest prize to the second number drawn etc.

Each member shall pay £12.00 per year for every lottery number they hold, to be paid on or before the renewal date each year. All New Members will be required to pay their subscriptions by bank or building society annual Standing Order.

The Promoter can supply a form which when completed is suitable for applicants to use to set up a Standing Order with their bank etc. (If a member holds several ‘numbers’, arrangements may be made with the promoter to pay on a monthly Standing Order basis.)

Existing Members will be encouraged to adopt this Standing Order method of payment when their renewal date nears. They will be sent a single reminder letter or email at the beginning of their last paid up month; unfortunately, due to the gaming laws, the high cost of postage, the problems associated with managing cheques and cash etc and the level of administration required to run the lottery, any member whose subscription is in arrears will have their number(s) lapsed and withdrawn from the competition at the beginning of the month when renewal is due.

Lapsed numbers will be returned to the pool of numbers available to purchase; if they are still available they may be renewed subsequently and paid for by the lapsed member using the Standing Order system.

The Promoter reserves the right to refuse or expel members, and his decision shall be final in all cases of dispute. The Promoter will pay prizes only to the persons whose names appear registered against the numbers. If you have any questions regarding the lottery please contact the Promoter.

All winners will be notified. Results will be available on this website on a monthly basis and also on request to the Promoter Lawrence Muffett.
